October is always a busy month, starting with Aunt Jenn's and Andrew's birthdays and ending with Jeff's and mine. In between, we manage to find plenty to do!
Andrew's first trip to the pumpkin patch on a sunny, fall day.
A trip to the zoo with Auntie Ellen and Uncle Thomas, visiting from Hamburg.
A colleague introduced me to a neat app that turns your iPhone pics into watercolors. So fancy! I call this one: Auntie & Andrew
Our street at twilight.
Once Andrew turned one-year-old, he was able to join Nathan at his school. It is so much easier having both boys at the same school. Given that the two boys' classrooms were across the hall, the teachers made a big deal about Andrew's arrival. Nathan's teacher and class made several visits to see Nathan's little brother. Andrew's new teacher was bubbling over with excitement to meet Andrew. She and many other teachers in the younger classes frequently remark on their observations of the similarities and differences between the boys.
Jeff turned 36 this year (closer to 40...eek), and we decided to celebrate in style. As often happens, the Huskies were playing at home this weekend. It was my first game in the new stadium and it is pretty impressive.
We had great seats along the 40 yard line. We couldn't help but reminisce about the fact our location and proximity to the team was much the same in college since it used to be the student section, prior to the remodel. How lucky we were as undergraduates to have those seats!
The weekend was even more fun since we spent the night in a hotel in downtown Seattle. Grandpa Murray was kind enough to take the boys for the night with support from Auntie Ellen and Uncle Thomas.
October also provided Nathan with his first school field trip. Neither Jeff nor I could go, but fortunately, Auntie Jenn could tag along and snap some great pictures for us. Nathan had a blast at the pumpkin patch and was even more impressed with his first bus ride with friends.

Nathan was able to borrow some boots since it was pretty muddy. Lucky for him, red is his favorite color. |
Between our family trip to the pumpkin patch, Nathan's field trip, and fruits of Grandma & Grandpa Davolt's garden, we had plenty of pumpkins to paint and carve this year. Aunt Jenn helped us paint and carve since I had my hands full (Jeff thinks pumpkins are messy).
October ended in my favorite way: pizza, family, and passing out goodies to trick-or-treaters.
