I am finally 36 weeks and getting more excited about baby's arrival each day! I had my two appointments this week, which were thankfully uneventful. As some of you have heard, my doctor told me on Monday that she would prefer me not to go into labor on my own for fear of another bleeding episode. Dr. Williams said that we would soon have a conversation about making plans for delivery, likely around 38 weeks. Naturally, I couldn't help but think how soon that would be! While we have not yet had this conversation and she wasn't entirely specific, she did remind me that I am at a higher risk of a C-section. So, I guess either this week or next, we'll start to figure out more information!
Yesterday I was very blessed to be surrounded with love and support at a shower in honor of Baby Davolt! Our friend Vicki hosted and the fabulous women of our church group contributed goodies for us to enjoy. Given that I spend so much time each week at home alone, it was more than thrilling to have friends from work, church and family all in one place!
I don't know if Vicki knew this, but Scrabble is my favorite game so it was neat to see the board set up this way!
The ladies of my church group who hosted and/or helped organize this special afternoon. These women and their husbands have become our Portland family! From left to right: Briana, April, myself, Vicki and Jennifer
My fellow teachers from Discovery, whom I miss visiting with each day. These ladies often help me maintain my perspective and sanity in the day to day life of middle school teachers. Jeanna, Sue, and Katie.
My cousins, Audrey and Hannah, were kind enough to drive from Seattle for the afternoon. It was nice to have some of my family join us, although many others were missed.
My dearest friend and former college roommate, Sarah. She, too, drove down from Seattle along with her adorable dog, Drake. Sarah will be one of many unofficial Aunties to our baby!
Last but not least, Jeff's sister Jennifer, unfortunately had her eyes closed. She is an enthusiastic Auntie to our nephew JD and no doubt will be loved just as much by our little honeydew.
